An international team leader recently reported from the field:
“We have stacks of Bible studies that are translated, edited and ready to print, but we don’t have the money to PRINT them!”
You can imagine how devastating this can be in places like Eurasia, where we’re seeing over 80,000 people a month come to Precept, eager to dig into God’s Word. But if we can’t get books into each hand, how can they effectively study?
Reports from the field also tell us that many international classes are having to turn students away. Others require them to share Bible study books. And yet others are getting creative . . . like using a pencil to fill in the answers so they can be erased for the next student!
The prayers and financial support of faithful Precept family members like you have helped develop, translate, print and distribute Precept Bible Studies all around the world. But in some regions of the world, demand is far surpassing supply. This is why I’m writing you today. Your support is so crucial.’
Will you please consider a gift this month to help put these powerful Precept Bible Study tools into the hands of those who need them?
The Apostle Paul understood the importance of getting the Gospel to those who needed to hear it. In Romans 10, he writes: “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” — Romans 10:14 (ESV)
In verse 17, Paul answers his own questions: “. . . faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ.”
The Word of Christ—God’s Word! This is what people need! That’s why Mom and Dad (Kay and Jack Arthur) founded Precept Ministries, and why Mom has devoted much of her life to writing Bible studies.
People all around the world desperately need to be exposed to more than just a simple prayer or some catchphrases from a bumper sticker.
We’ve sold short the message of Christ if the main message of the church to a lost world is simply: “Repeat this prayer after me and then everything will be great and you will go to heaven when you die.”
As followers of Jesus, you and I must help get others into God’s Word so they can:
- Discover the truth of the Gospel for themselves
- Learn how to be a follower of Christ
- Become disciple-making disciples
But what does it mean to be a disciple—a follower of Jesus?
In our 40-Minute study, Being a Disciple: Counting the Real Cost, we examine the very words of Jesus: “So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:33, ESV).
Take up your cross. Deny yourself. Follow Me. This is what our Savior calls us to do. This is what we need to be telling people about what it means to be a disciple of Christ!
Friend, your prayer support and giving over the years has helped us recruit and train effective Bible study leaders across the world! Now we need to meet the growing need to resource them with printed Bible studies!
Our Thank You for your gift this month
When you send in a gift today, we’ll send you a copy of Being a Disciple: Counting the Real Cost as a thank you—so you can continue your journey of deepening your faith in our Lord! (Offer ends 10/31/17)
Can we count on you to help?
