PLUMBLINE APRIL 2017
The Easter message people worldwide need to hear!
Death doesn’t have the final say.
On that first Easter morning, nearly 2,000 years ago, the disciples and others experienced this personally.
While the death of their precious Jesus was obviously painful, you have to know they found comfort in knowing His death was not the end. That’s the beauty of the Resurrection. It doesn’t rid us of the sorrow and the pain, but it gives us HOPE that this isn’t over.
I imagine in the weeks, months and even years following Jesus’ Resurrection, when the disciples were discouraged, persecuted and even killed, that the imagery of touching, hugging, smelling and eating with the resurrected Jesus HAD to be an encouragement, right? That experience of being in the room with the doors shut, and then Jesus appears. It was just three days earlier when they saw him shredded on a cross. Dead! Yet, now He’s resurrected.
And that cool story of Jesus preserving a couple of His scars and saying to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side” (John 20:27). Surely, the disciples each proclaimed, “I know the Resurrection is true. Because I experienced it!”
