Serving God in a Pandemic

Apr 30, 2020

Right now, people need hope—the kind of hope only found in God’s Word.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted daily life for billions of people around the world. In times like this, people desperately need a foundation to stand on.

As we all adjust to this new normal, we’re sharing stories about how God is working around the world through the support of givers like you.

2020 Spring Women’s Conference

Like so many non-profits, Precept has been forced to cancel or shift our spring and summer events, and we have been heartbroken to not be able to meet with you all in person.

As we announced the shift of the Spring Women’s Conference to an online-only event, two incredible things happened:

  1. Registrations skyrocketed — Women all over the country were turning to God’s Word for solace and hope! One week before the webcast, there were nearly twice as many women signed up as had attended the 2019 conference.
  2. A donor stepped up Just days before the event, a donor offered to fund 500 scholarships. “I want as many women as possible to hear God’s Word right now,” she said. Through God’s grace and her generosity, at least 1,720 women came together to ground themselves in God’s Word. We are in awe!

God’s Word offers the sustaining hope the world needs, and we rejoice that He is doing His work in the Precept community.

Quarantine Ministry in Colombia

When the COVID-19 crisis began to shut down South America, Miriam and Adan found themselves trapped in Bogotá, Colombia—far away from their home in Guatemala.

After a few phone calls, they connected with friends of a friend and found a place to stay. As they were talking with their new hosts, Miriam and Adan told them they worked for Precept. Their hostess was thrilled—she had already been working through How to Study Your Bible with friends, and she asked if Miriam would train them in the Precept Method!

Word quickly spread through the community, and Miriam and Adan began leading more and more groups through God’s Word. By early April, Miriam and Adan were leading thousands of people through online Bible studies—even while quarantined!

The couple commented on this time of unexpectedly fruitful ministry:

“The Lord opened doors we would never have imagined, and we feel so thankful—the Lord has been so faithful with us. We feel so useful during these uncertain times.”

This is an unprecedented season, and we are blown away by how God is using His people to spread the hope of His Word even farther!

How You Can Help

Although ministry looks different in this season, we are grateful that the hope of God’s Word is able to reach so many. Our Precept leaders are not slowing down, but are able to adapt and serve in new, unique ways.

You can join us in this mission to share the hope found in God’s Word. Online trainings are available if you would like to become a Bible study leader in your community. Your prayers and financial support are also critical to continuing the work happening around the world.

We are grateful for your support and cannot wait to see what God will do next.
