The Christian life ultimately boils down to just one thing…
Knowing Jesus more and more deeply—every day.
Everyone who has put their faith in Christ has this driving hunger in their soul.
It’s a hunger to pursue Him. To love Him. To know Him.
But the question is… how?
Spending Time with Jesus
Imagine there’s a new colleague or an acquaintance at church that you want to get to know better.
How would you get to know them?
You could ask others what they know about this person. But that will only get you so far. Other people’s perspectives may be biased or even misinformed.
You could search the internet for their name or browse their social media. But that will only give you head knowledge about them.
The only way to truly get to know them on a personal level would be to spend time with them.
Then you’ll be able to find out directly from them about their life, identity, and personality. You’ll be able to see more of who they really are.
The same is true with Jesus.
Who Jesus Says He Is
It’s good to read theological books or listen to sermons…
But one of the best ways to truly know Jesus is to see for yourself what He says about Himself.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus gives seven “I am…” statements:
- I am the Bread of Life.
- I am the Light of the World.
- I am the Door of the Sheep.
- I am the Good Shepherd.
- I am the Resurrection and the Life.
- I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
- I am the Vine.
He wasn’t secretive about His identity. He openly declared it!
Jesus wants you to understand who He is and why He came to earth.
And each I AM declaration of Jesus peels back another layer of His identity and invites you into a deeper relationship.
A deeper relationship with the One who saved your soul…
A deeper relationship with the One who truly satisfies your deepest longings…
A deeper relationship with the One who guides… protects… and loves.
In our stand-alone, two-week study I Am: The Identity of Jesus, we dig into each I AM statement in the Gospel of John to discover more about Jesus.
Join us as we dive into the very words of Jesus…
Because with these I AM statements, you’ll get more than just head knowledge.
You’ll go further into the depths of who Jesus really is—and you’ll find rest in His love for you.
